The residents of Iruru A and Kabochi villages in Kiminda location, Nandi county have protested after claims KPLC have sidelined the area when it comes to electricity connections. Over two hundred residents from the two villages don’t have connection to electricity, despite placing applications in 2012.
The residents under the Kenya Power Chairman for Iruru village Mr James Bett revealed that all the villages in Kiminda location except the two have electricity, and residents have asked for answers from the Kenya Power company, Kapsabet branch, regarding the situation.
Iruru A and Kabochi villages in Kapsabet ward, Emgwen constituency, have over 200 homesteads which have been wired since the year 2012 but have not been connected to electricity to date despite paying the electricity fee of Kshs 35,000 and Kshs 1,160 respectively.
The residents have voiced their displeasure with KPLC and have urged the government to intervene. They added that if KPLC fails to sort the issue, then the company should refund them.
