Five people are nursing serious injuries in one hospital in Bungoma after being attacked by unknown people in a hotel at Kabula market. Addressing the media, Kabula Ward Member of County Assembly Vitalis Sifuna Wangila said that the affected were attacked while watching a football match. “I received a call at around 3 am that they had been attacked by unknown people while watching a football match. They were beaten, their clothes were confiscated and were forced to drink excess alcohol, yet most of them don’t even take alcohol,” said Sifuna.
Sifuna revealed that residents have been attacked and perturbed by unknown people for long while doing their businesses, and he urged the national government to set up a police post in that area as a way of curbing insecurity that is rampant in the region. “As Kabula ward leader I plead with the national government to at least consider us and put up a police post in this area because when the incident happened, police were called but since they don’t have means of transport, their prompt arrival never happened. The whole debacle lasted for around two hours before the criminals escaped,” he explained.
However, he urged Bungoma County Commissioner Joshua Chepcheing to move with haste to investigate the matter and if the culprits will be caught, they’ll be charged in court according to the law. “Victims were injured badly, I’ve been to the hospital and one of them is still unconscious therefore the County Commissioner should investigate and ensure justice prevails,” he said.
