Giant schools in Nandi have registered a drastic performance drop in this year’s Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results unlike prior years.
The reasons may not be clearly known but according to many, it’s due to the stringent measures put in place by the ministry of education and the Kenya national examination council to curb any form of cheating in exams.
Kapsabet Boys high school which registered a total of 245 candidates posted a mean score of 9.5 in this year’s KCSE results which is a slight drop compared to a mean score of 11.2 last year.
Two candidates managed to score clean As while a total of 79 got A-s, 85 B+, 47 Bs,34 B-, 32 C+, 2 Cs and one C-.
St Josephs Girls Chepterit posted 2 A-, 24 B+, 32 Bs, 37 B-, 29 C+ and 2 C-, while Kapsabet Girls had 6 A-.
Speaking to West Media in his office, the Principal of Kapsabet Boys High school Mr Kipchumba Maiyo said even if the school didn’t produce more A ‘s the way it had been performing, he is happy with the number of students who have qualified to join university.
A total of 17,598 candidates, male students were 9194 and female students 8404, sat for this year’s KCSE exams in Nandi.
