Residents from Makindu village in Kiungani, Kiminini Sub County, Trans Nzoia County are mourning the death of Governor Patrick Khaemba’s mother, Petronila Khaemba. The deceased succumbed to her death after a long illness from complications related to high blood pressure and kidney failure, at the age of 85. Her body has been taken to Eldoret referral mortuary.
Maurice Nyongesa Khaemba explained that the family is submerged in deep sorrow following their mother’s demise. He said their mother had treated them well and taught them the way of discipline and encouraged them to be hardworking in all spheres of life.
“We’ve lived well with our mother who was always ready to counsel us. She was supportive even after our late father died some six years ago,” said Nyongesa. He said that burial arrangements are going on, adding that they had agreed as a family to bury her this Saturday, to avoid the distractions of campaigns which are set to kick off on 28th May.
His sentiments were echoed by his sister Sylvia Nafula Khaemba, who said their late mother always encouraged them to be God-fearing people, and she described her as a staunch Christian. She said the demise of their mother is a big blow to the whole family, citing that Trans Nzoia Governor Patrick Khaemba always sought advice from her on many issues, even political decisions. “Our brother Governor Khaemba will miss the wise counsel of our mother who was always ready to advice him when needed, even with political counsel,” she said. She said her death has left a gap that will be hard to fill, and she called upon the family to remain united during this hard time.
