Kenya Medical Training Colleges region seven (North Rift Region) have converged at Chewoyet High school in Kapenguria, West Pokot County for the annual sports championships that kicked off on Monday 9th April 2018.
The sports competitions will take a period of four days and will involve seven Medical Training Colleges of Kapenguria, Kitale, Kapchumo, Lodwar, Iten, Moi Teaching and Referral Eldoret and Mosoriot.
The games will come to a close on Thursday this week before proceeding to the nationals which be held at Kakamega.
The event, which is the zonal 7th edition, will feature ball games, indoor games and athletics with each discipline attracting various competitors from all the 7 Medical Training Colleges.
The zone sports Chairman Mr. David Yator said the sports will enable students and staff from different colleges to interact.
Yator said that they are working in collaboration with Athletics Kenya and also wants in future to put the sporting on the AK Calendar. “Athletics took place on Monday, ball games and indoor games will take place from Tuesday up to Thursday,” he said. Yator said participating in the games and sports generally will enable participants to be fit and sharper.
Yator said that the competition began at the campus level with winners booking slots in the zonal competitions and will proceed to the regional level in August.
West Pokot County Sports, Youths and social services Chief Officer Mr. Wilson Losuron said as a County they are committed to developing talents.
