Saboti MP David Wafula Lazaro has claimed that his life is in danger following his stand against the construction of the County referral hospital.
Speaking this during a fund drive in a Catholic church at Maili Saba in Kiminini, the Saboti legislator claimed he has received threatening phone messages ordering him to stop criticizing the construction of the referral hospital.
The MP has been criticizing the manner in which the referral hospital land was purchased, alleging that it was overpriced and that the County administration under governor Khaemba bought the land without involving other stakeholders.
He vowed to continue the fight against graft, claiming it had increased in the County, and that money lost had been unaccounted for.
He said leaders in the County have a right to condemn anything they feel is incorrect, and the county government should be able to deal with the criticisms positively instead of creating animosity.
The MP made the statement in a church service that was attended by Governor Patrick Khaemba, Catholic Bishop Maurice Anthony Crowley, Kiminini MP Dr. Chris Wamalwa, former Tinderet MP Henry Kosgey, former kwanza MP Dr. Noah Wekesa among other leaders
On MP Wamalwa, Lazaro said, “I am a midfielder in this field of politics and my work is to give a through pass to the host, MP Chris Wamalwa, who is a striker.”
Earlier on, the Catholic Bishop had told politicians to avoid politics during the function but only concentrate on the fund drive.
Governor Khaemba on his part didn’t respond to the claims made by the legislator but instead he delved mostly on development progress he has initiated in the county.
Some of the leaders who have been accusing the county administration about the land purchase are Kiminini MP Dr. Chris Wamalwa, Endebess MP Dr. Robert Pukose and Saboti MP David Lazaro.
