A one-day Summit has kicked off at the Local Content Productions Kenya with an aim to boost production in local content. The Summit has seen a good amount of money invested in film and movies production for local content as announced by Multichoice Kenya.
The Kshs 500 investment in local shows is set to start reaping benefits starting next year. GOtv Kenya General Manager Simon Kariithi has emphasized the need for commitment by DStv and GOtv to fully invest in local productions.
India’s Film Industry Bollywood has been applauded as the biggest in the world based on the volume of content produced locally.
The Summit is driven by the theme ‘Investing in East Africa local content industries to spur economic growth’. This is mainly to ensure that the film industry generates economic benefits in the East Africa region.
The Summit was also organized in an effort to increase and embrace local production skills following a directive by the Communication Authority in 2014. It also aims to boost talent, skills, and create jobs for the youth. It has attracted various film stakeholders, content producers, actors, promoters and youths from different parts of the country.
