West Pokot senator Prof. John Lonyangapuo claims his life is in danger owing to the political difference between him and top jubilee leadership in the country. The Senator said that the Deputy President William Ruto will be responsible if anything happens to him, for allegedly threatening him during Jubilee campaign rally at Makutano town. He was speaking at Kangilkwan in Kapenguria, West Pokot County.
These concerns come after the Senator Lonyangapuo’s gubernatorial ambitions to unseat the current Governor of West Pokot Simon Kachapin, who is a close ally of the deputy president, raised the political temperatures in the region, as KANU and Jubilee supremacy battle continue to run politics of the day.
“The Deputy President has been abusing us every time he comes to West Pokot and we are now warning him to stay away from the Pokot community. He is carrying out very immature politics in this region,” said Lonyangapuo.
He was accompanied by other leaders, who called for peaceful elections, and they also urged security officers to monitor remarks made by political leaders.
The KANU leaders have urged the government to resolve the nurses’ strike. Former information minister Samuel Poghisio said that it was unfortunate for how the state of health has gone down without any solution as dozens of Kenyans die due to the ongoing strike.
Former Information and Communications Minister Samuel Poghisio said that remote Counties like West Pokot among others in the country are in dire need of revived health services in hospitals, since there are no private hospitals in the vicinity. He added that many residents can’t afford private hospital services.
