The Luhya Council of Elders in Trans Nzoia have endorsed governor Patrick Khaemba to retain his seat through the Ford Kenya ticket. Speaking in Kitale, the patron of Luhya Council of Elders Emmanuel Milimo said that the community will support him.
“We as the luhya community, have the privilege of having the gubernatorial seat in Trans Nzoia and we hereby endorse him,” he said.
He urged gubernatorial aspirants from the Luhya community to allow governor Khaemba to complete another term. “We know you now that you have expressed your interest, but now let’s back governor Khaemba then when he finishes his term we shall endorse you,” he noted.
The chairman of the Council of Elders in Trans Nzoia Ben Wanyonyi supported Milimo’s sentiments concerning support given to governor Khaemba. His counterpart Ferdinand Wanyisia also supported the move. Wanyisia said the governor has their support and urged other gubernatorial aspirants to go for other posts.
On his part, governor Patrick Khaemba said he will aggressively look for votes in the County after earning the elders’ trust. He said that he will ensure that the County remains united during the election period and urged the party officials to agree with the elders’ opinion. “I was elected with one main agenda of ensuring that I serve the residents without discrimination,” he added.
He urged the NASA principals to name a presidential flag bearer quickly so that Kenyans can know who they’ll vote for.
