A sad cloud hangs over Vilaha village of Mukuyu sub-location, Mautuma location in Lugari sub county after the body of a 39-year-old man was found dangling from the rafters of his bedroom. According to Mukuyu sub location assistant chief Ainea Kilinga Oyuchi,
the cause of the victim’s death, Mr. Joseph Miheso, was outright suicide.
Mr. Oyuchi said that area residents were alerted about the Friday afternoon incident when
the deceased’s body was discovered by his children who are pupils at Mukuyu primary school had returned home for lunch.
“The children had rushed home for lunch and called for their father but he never responded as he usually does. When they entered his bedroom they were shocked to see a body hanging from the rafters and at first, they didn’t know it was their father and raised alarm saying a thief had invaded their house,” said Oyuchi.
The local administrator said neighbours responded quickly to the children’s distress call and when they entered the house they were shocked to find it was their father who had committed suicide using a mosquito net. With no suicide note left behind Mr. Oyuchi said the reason behind Mr. Miheso’s suicide had not been established.
However, some of the deceased’s family members and neighbours who spoke to West Media have claimed that the father of three might’ve decided to take his life due to frustrations after his wife abandoned him and married another man in the neighbourhood
Police officers from Turbo station visited the scene and moved the body to Chebaiywa hospital mortuary in the neighbouring Uasin Gishu County for postmortem as they launched an inquest into the matter.
