Speaking to www.westfm.co.ke in his office, Lugari Sub County Registrar of Persons, Mr. John Omega said the exercise will be conducted in all secondary schools within the sub county.
“This massive registration of persons exercise in Lugari Sub County will officially kick off on 10th May at St. Luke’s Lumakanda Boys High School and will run up to 26th July this year,” said Omega.
The itinerary for the two months and three weeks exercise has already been distributed to all secondary school principals and local administrators, according to Omega who appealed to them to help sensitize the same among the locals.

“The objective is to see all eligible Kenyans secure IDs before February, 2017 in order for them to register as voters and consequently participate in the next General Election,” added the sub county registrar.
Emphasizing the exercise was free of charge, Omega, however, asked all eligible individuals to carry with them identification documents, which include copies of parents’ identity cards, birth notifications and baptismal cards.
“However, it is only those who want to change names on their IDs that are charged Ksh. 1000,” the official clarified.
Omega urged youths in the area to exploit this window of opportunity and use it to secure the vital document.
He called on support from all area chiefs and assistant chiefs and security officers to enable the programme achieve its target.
Meanwhile, Omega has appealed to over 1700 individuals who applied for IDs last year to visit his office at Lumakanda town and collect their cards.
“At the moment we have a total of 1737 uncollected IDs lying in my office,” revealed Omega.
