KRU Chairman Mwangi Muthee signs a contract giving Zuku the rights to broadcast the Kenya/Zimbabwe Victoria Cup match slated for this weeekend. Wananchi CEO Richard Bell looks on.

Zuku have announced that they will be making the Victoria Cup match between Kenya and Zimbabwe available to all free to airs for broadcast slated for this Saturday from the Nyayo Stadium.

This will also be available on their own Zuku Sports aimed at reaching all the masses in the country.

Zuku was approached by the Kenya Rugby Union- KRU to step up support and use its expertise in TV to help ensure the game is televised following news that the planned broadcast had been suspended.

“Zuku is working hard to help ensure that the loyal fans and patriotic Kenyans who want to cheer on their national team will get the chance to see the match on TV this Saturday,” said Richard Bell, CEO Wananchi Group. “We therefore call on all local broadcasters to take this opportunity to air the game so as to reach all Kenyan fans.”

Zuku is a new home grown Kenyan entertainment brand which is keen to promote and develop local content. This combined with the fact that Richard Bell is a huge rugby fan who played for Nondies ,meant that when KRU were looking for a corporate sponsor to facilitate the move from the KRFU grounds to Nyayo Stadium, it was only natural that they would turn to Zuku for support.

“KRU’s vision to move the game to a bigger venue to broaden its reach closely aligns with Zuku’s own mission to bring quality home entertainment to the mass market,” said KRU Chairman Mwangi Muthee. “For this reason, we are delighted that Zuku was able to sponsor the game financially and also support its broadcasting.”
