She schooled at Bolagasi primary school in Kakamega and then proceeded to Moi Girls Vokoli high school for her secondary education then later on to Kenyatta University where she has just completed her four year study in Education in Swahili and Religion. She is still single but has plans to tie the knot soon. In an interview at West Fm studio Dorine stated that she recognized her singing talent as a young girl in class eight and since then she has been nurturing it till this date. She got encouraged by preachers who came to their school in high school for the weekend challenge and admired to serve the Lord like them. Dorine also says she got her inspiration to sing from listening to other talented gospel artists like Angela Chibalonza, Christina Shusho and Eunice Njeri and from that she decide to try out to what she has become today. "I used to listen to the late Angela Chibalonza's worship songs and they would inspire me and I wanted to be like her so she has been a role model to me," said Dorine. Dorine sings both praise and worship songs that she dedicates to God. She resorted to singing gospel songs because she wanted to dedicate her talent to her creator. She produced her album 'msaada wangu' while still in campus and through challenges she managed to produce and release them to the audience. "Producing the songs from campus was challenging because I had to study and at the same time record the songs which would sometimes go late in to the night but I managed by programming my time and spending it well," said Dorine. Her first song 'msaada wangu' is an inspirational praise song that she says calls upon the believers to leave all their problems and cast all their burdens to God because He is the one who cares for them and will always provide for their needs. “I would like to advise any person who feels he or she has the talent of singing like me to first of all pray to God to see him through it and also look for enough funding because it’s not as easy as it seems," said Dorine. She also tells her audience to look forward to her new album that she is working on. |
