Golfers from Western and North Rift regions had a treat during this year's Easter Holidays after they were engaged in an annual West FM sponsored Golf tournament held at the Kitale Club on Saturday.
During the competition that attracted both senior and junior players, Nelson Kirior emerged the overall winner of the tournament and followed by Clara Chesire.
Others who were among the top winners included Pradip Shah, B Cheruiyot and Dominic Walubengo from Njoro Nakuru closing the top five winners.
Speaking after the tournament during the price giving ceremony, the club chairman Ali Seif and the Captain Peter Koech praised West FM for having engaged them within the region and saved them the time and resources that they could have spend travelling to other distant places such as Mombasa, Lodwar, Uganda or Rwanda among other places to spend their Easter holidays.
"We are very much grateful to the West FM station to have volunteered to sponsor this tournament for the fourth consecutive year that has been an ideal move to engage us in every Easter season that many of us used to spend at distant places within and outside the country," said the club chairman Ali Seif while addressing the golfers.
They also noted the tremendous contribution that West FM is contributing towards diverse aspects of development through its enlightening radio and Website programs that are transforming the entire region at large and were happy to be part of the West FM family.
In his speech the West FM chairman Dr George Masafu promised that West FM is out to pull more surprises as it continues to sponsor the tournament among other activities.
"When we were here last time I promised you that when we meet again we shall be having a new thing to introduce to you and am now happy to inform you that we have just tested our digital West TV that shall soon save many of you the rush of going to your houses to sit and watch news and other programs on your television sets because we shall enable you to watch news via your mobile phones," Dr Masafu revealed.
He added that by the beginning of the second half of this year the people in the region shall start enjoying the services of the new West TV that was launched about a month ago in Nairobi by the Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka among many other senior dignitaries.
The chairman further noted that more and more good things are yet to be unveiled by the station which he said is serving a population equivalent to the population of Rwanda as a country and thus it is serving a region that is a nation on its own though he pointed out the recent move that has seen the radio station go national after the opening of the Nairobi studio.
During the competition the winners received different prizes including TV sets, gas cookers, spray pumps among many others worth millions of money and had free drinks and musical entertainments at the club after participating in the event.
