Agriculture minister and Mp for Aldai constituency Dr. Sally Kosgei has declared that she will defend her parliamentary seat adding that she was not interested in county positions.

Speaking in Kobujoi at the C.D.F office she insisted that she was comfortable with parliamentary position because it was a good platform for her to develop the constituency.

Kosgei said that she has turned down advice by some people that, “She was fit to serve as a senator or governor” because of her wide experience in leadership.

She said, “I know why I choose to vie for parliamentary seat. That is where I can serve my constituents well.”

Kosgei said that despite several projects that have been completed during her tenure, she was yet to further improve them and complete those which had been started and others which were yet to kick off.

She said, “We still have to construct libraries in many schools which do not have them and even introduce the use of computers. Other schools with temporary structures would have permanent buildings put in place.”

However, Kosgei said that those who are interested in the county positions should express their interests so that residents can vet them.

“Count me out in the county positions, but ensure that you elect credible leaders that would serve the interests of the people,” she said.

The minister distributed cheques amounting to Sh 30.89 million for development of schools and health centres in the region.

Part of the Constituency Development Funds (CDF) would also be used in construction of Bonjoge police station to curb frequent cattle theft in Aldai-Vihiga border.

Kosgei lauded her CDF committee for their good work adding that they should ensure that areas that require immediate attention are attended.

She cited Chepkuny secondary school in Bonjoge sub-location in which three of its classrooms had their roofs blown off by strong winds early this month.

Kosgei said that the committee had done well to address the issue and allow learning to continue in the affected school.
