Permanent secretary for Public Works Prof John Lonyangapou has warned voters to discard the habit of electing leaders along party line as the trend was to blame for bad leadership in the country,

The Ps advised the electorates to vote in leaders based on their development track record instead of being swept away by political parties euphoria’s like what happened during the 2007 general elections.

“In 2007 the electorates voted for the party that was popular and not individuals and now they are regretting because the people they voted in did not qualify for the seat," lamented Lonyangapou.

The PS, who has declared his interest to contest for Kapenguria senate seat in the next general elections on a Kanu ticket, said the voters were bound to regret for electing into positions of leadership based on political parties.

Lonyangapou was speaking at Kocholwo division in Keiyo district when he presided over the official opening of Chepko Foot Bridge along the Kerio Valley.

He has challenged parents to invest their resources in the education of their children as one way of empowering them socially and economically.

He castigated a section of parents who are still discriminating their children in the provision of education based on gender saying that such culture should be discarded at all cost as it was outdated.

At the same time area MP Jackson Kiptanui has asked the government to post more teaching staff in marginalized areas noting that the region was being overlooked when it comes to hiring of teachers leading to poor performance and low standards of education in the area.
