Residents in Teso South District have been asked to stop wasting time politicking and concentrate on their farms now that there is adequate rain in the country. Addressing a congregation in Chakol Parish in Teso South, Bishop Norman King’oo of Bungoma diocese called on residents to uphold the spirit of working hard in their farms and ignore side shows from self-centered politicians.

 The Bishop said, “Politicians are self-seekers looking for the lucrative jobs through your votes so that they can take care of their families as they forget you the electorate.”

 Norman told the residents to adopt and make use of the modern farming technology which he said will yield quality products and liberate them from looming poverty in the area. He also asked them to concentrate in farming saying that it will help them take their children to school and stop depending on politicians.

“You know them better and well, how many times have they promised you people heaven, and what are you going through now. It is high time you make use of this heavy down pour and educate your children who will help you in days to come,’’ explained the bishop.

 He added that with proper agricultural practices the district will be food secure, residents will be empowered economically and socially as they sell excess harvests and investing in the education of   their children.

In the same function, the bishop urged the women to take education seriously saying that the society heavily depends on women and this can be realized if they are educated.

“It is education that is going to set women free and make them independent. An educated woman has the ability to realize the talents God has bestowed upon her and put them into practice by making autonomous choices. “The bishop added.

 King’oo was addressing hundreds of Christians at Chakol Parish during a Confirmation Mass where over 200 catholic faithful dominated by the youths received the Sacrament of Confirmation.
