Residents of Kamolo and Amairo villages in Teso North district faced a rare incident after a heavy downpour rendered most of them homeless and unknown number of cattle carried away during the yesterday evening rains

Confirming the incident, Ariemit location Chief Livingstone Enaga said the incident was unfortunate and that at least 15 houses were destroyed and many animals swept by the fast moving foods .He revealed that five cows, property of Mr Paul Emuru were recovered by a good Samaritan who took them in his resident immediately the rains had subsided.

Mr. Enaga revealed that youth in the area had a rough time swimming to rescue more than ten animal that were carried  up to Amairo bridge that  borders  Kenya and  Uganda.

"Youth are trying very hard to rescue more than ten cows that were spotted in a bridge bordering our country and Uganda," said Mr. Enaga.

He appealed to farmers who had lost their animals in the incident to visit his place and identify their animal. He added that they have launched investigations to determine the real owners of the animals.

During the incident, Bodaboada operators who were on their way to Busia were stuck on way not knowing what to do next. Young children grazing animals were left with no option than being rained on.

"We managed to save six children who were grazing animals happily and  Little did they know it will turn out  to be tears to them," said mzee Emuria  Omuse an eye witness

Following the incident the chief issued  warning to parents who will be found delegating their duties to young children, capitalizing on their presence in homes now that schools are closed. He also warned parents not to graze animals along rivers saying that it is risky especially during this heavy rain season

Speaking to west fm, residents directed their woes to political wing saying that poor construction of bridges and infrastructure has caused them a great problem.

"Our roads have no proper drainage to help during floods and this has caused water to flow to our farms and houses carrying and destroying our property," explained Bruce Jakaa a farmer who was affected

They appealed to politicians to help improve the dilapidated states of in infrastructure in the district to help control such problems.
