ACK St. Crispine emerged the best during weekend inter-parish games organized by the Anglican Church Bungoma Diocese. St. Crispine won in both the football and volleyball category games which were played at the Siritanyi Sacred Training Institute where in the football it won 2-1 against ACK Siritanyi parish. Julius Masinde (team captain) scored the first goal for Saint Crispine ACK and Christopher Wesonga scored for ACK Siritanyi parish during the first half of the match. During the second half, peter Wesonga scored the second goal for ACK saint Crispine. In the volleyball girls’ category, the ACK saint Crispine won 2 sets against ACK Siritanyi parish which had only 1 set. Volleyball boys’ category, the ACK saint Crispine won 2 sets against ACK Siritanyi parish which managed only 1 set. George M. Javan a youth committee chairman in the Bungoma ACK church who had organized for the event as a way of attracting more youth to join the church through sporting activities. “We have organized for this event as a way of creating an opportunity for the youth in the church to interact freely and compete as a way of expressing talent,” said George. The organizing secretary for the youth in the church said that December last year they organized for inter-church choir competition which was not received well by youth in the region as many did not take part in it. Keziah Wanjala, a youth representative of the ACK Siritanyi parish urged youth to use sports as a way of avoiding temptation of sexual immorality among them. “Apart from our regular prayer meetings and Sunday service, let us embrace sports as a way of keeping ourselves fit and avoid entering into sexual immorality,” said Keziah. |
