Sofapaka playing against Western Stima in a past match at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega. Photo I File Western Stima will host Gor Mahia at the Mumias Sports Complex after a Kenyan Premier League LTD stadia safety and security committee found the Bukhungu stadium unfit for hosting the match. The match which is scheduled for this coming weekend (Sunday 7 August 2011) will now take place in Mumias town after Stima declined KPL's offer to play the game in Nairobi and Nakuru. Team Manager Laban Jobita, KPL decided that our ground was unable to host a game of that magnitude so they gave us three options, Mumias, Afraha in Nakuru and Nyayo Stadium in Nairobi but he said that the decision to play in Mumias was down to the club fans. “The club has decided to go for Mumias because it is easier and cheaper for our fans to get to. The other options were better monetary wise but we have to consider our fans first, he explained.’’ Stima have a good record at their Bukhungu home ground which would have helped stifle Gor, but according to Jobita the move to Mumias will not favour their opponents. “We would have liked to play at our home ground but because we have to move, we will adapt. It is not a disadvantage to us or an advantage to them because in the KPL there is no home ground as such. He insisted that every ground can be won on if preparations are good and said he will work on that. Stima are currently eighth in the KPL. |
