Bodaboda operators in Bumula district have threatened to protest if the roads in the region will not be repaired saying the roads are now impassable.

In an exclusive interview with West FM in Mateka, the boda boda operators who sought for anonymity said almost all roads in Bumula constituency are in pathetic state owing to the heavy rains pounding in the region.

‘’We are giving 14 days ultimatum to our Mp Bifwoli Wakoli and his councilors to repair the roads or else we go on rampage,’’ the operators charged.

They mentioned, Bungoma- Muanda, Muanda-Mateka, Metaka- Kibachenje, Mateka Bumula and Bumula- Myanga as the most affected roads.

Theoperators cited lack of political will in the region to deal with the problem of roads while appealing to the politicians to stop playing politics and focus on issues affecting the locals.

They claimed that civic leaders in the region are colluding with contractors to do shoddy work on the roads without bearing in mind the importance of good road network to the locals.

Further, they said the contractors working on the roads have the tendency not to open drainages to direct running water to its right course a situation that has led to floods in the district.

‘’It is a pity that some locals have vacated their homes because of the floods but our leaders including the local Mp remain aloof of the situation on the ground,’’ they said.
