Two armed gangsters on Wednesday raided a 60 year old woman’s home at Centre B village in Nambale district before escaping with assorted goods and cash.

According to the victim identified as Philis Ojaro, two men armed with a pistol and a panga broke into her house at around 1pm and stole sh 59,000 cash, a laptop, a television set and 20 kilograms of maize and beans.

She said that during the incident in which she was with her two granddaughters, her attempts to raise an alarm were unsuccessful following threats from the gangsters who said they would shoot her if she screamed.

Confirming the incident, Busia police boss Kenneth Kimani said they have launched investigation over the incident to ascertain those who were behind the robbery.

“Nobody was injured during the incident but we have already started investigations to ensure those who were involved are arrested and charged over the crime,” he said.

Speaking to journalists in Busia, Kimani urged area residents to remain vigilant and work closely with the relevant security agencies through providing vital information that would lead to the arrest of individuals involved in criminal activities.

He also advised them to take advantage of their mobile phones to alert the police officers in case of any danger for quick response.
