MALABA Police are holding a man who was found in possession of three rolls of bhang (Cannabis Sativa) and some were still in his secrete farm ready to be harvested.

The whole incident came to a reality when Bernard Silange, 36, was summoned in the chief’s Baraza to respond to question of domestic violence where he allegedly threatened to kill his wife with a panga before neighbors came to her rescue.

The incident prompted the area assistant chief to call for a meeting to articulate the issue, but the suspect turned rude and intentionally refused to answer questions.

His wife, a mother of six whom he inherited from his dead brother and who was also attending the meeting chaired by  Okulei assistant chief Shakila Okodoi told the administrator about the illegal business carried out by her husband and how he normally smokes bang and turn wild to his family and friends.

Mrs. Shakila said that she alerted the police officers who came immediately and arrested the man who led them to his secret garden where he usually plants bhang. They found out the garden had been uprooted but some bang was still intact. The assistant Chief suspected that someone might have alerted his friend who went and destroyed the evidence.

The police officers found three rolls of bhang in his house. His wife later revealed that his husband had been carrying out the illegal business for quite a long time.

Confirming the incident Teso DOI Luis Rono called on the community to report any threat case for a quick action to be taken and asked those smoking bhang to desist habit saying that it might ruin the younger generations.
