APHIA Plus through a local community based organization Matunda Jua Kazi has donated several instructional materials for adult learners in Likuyani district.

While handing out the equipment to various adult institutions, an Orphan officer with the CBO, Joseph Shikuku asked adult teachers to ensure that the materials benefitted their learners.

He said Aphia plus through the CBO was committed to ensuring that illiteracy was kicked out among adults in the area.Among the donated items included books, pens, handbags and files. At the same time Mr. shikuku said that APHIA plus had also assured to donate writing boards.

Shikuku pointed out that it was now evident that con men were capitalizing on illiteracy levels to swindle orphan caretakers of the entitlement under the government funded program that cushions them through monthly stipends.

On her part, the adult education officer Irene Murunga commended the organization for facilitating adult education in the area and called on other development partners to follow suit.

She at the same time called on locals to enroll in large numbers in adult classes adding that lessons offered were multi pronged.
