A Catholic Priest has warned residents in Teso South District to desist from selling their lands but instead to invest fully in education. Father Gabriel Okubala of Amukara parish has expressed concerned over increased cases of parents selling their lands and indulging in spree drinking failing to support their children’s education.

Okubal  revealed that education standards in Teso Districts has declined  drastically  a factor he blamed on  sell of land and parents neglecting education putting first  priority on illicit brews saying that lest they shun the vice , they will forever languish in poverty and be left behind.

Addressing mourners in Kamosing village of Teso South District during a burial ceremony of a resident, the priest called upon the Iteso people to embrace education saying that it is the only tool that will put to an end poverty looming in the area. He further urged parents to take their children to school and cease depending on politicians to support their children education adding that parents must be responsible.
