One man died on spot after a motorcycle he was traveling on was involved in a road accident along the busy Webuye – Eldoret highway.

Confirming the incident, Lugari OCPD Mr. John Leshimpiro said that the accident occurred near Chimoi trading centre in Matete district when the motorbike veered off the road and landed in a ditch, killing Mr. Jacob Katana on spot Monday morning at about 10pm.

Mr. Leshimpiro added that the motorbike, driven by Mr. Alama Kabene, was traveling to Eldoret when the accident occurred.

The police boss said the deceased was taken to Webuye District Hospital mortuary while Mr. Kabene who had sustained serious injuries with both of his legs broken was rushed to the same health facility for medical attention.

Mr. Leshimpiro has urged bodaboda operators plying the highway against over speeding, reminding them of the many diversions created by Maltauro Construction Company, which is in charge of constructing the road between Eldoret and Webuye.

He further warned them against doing business late in the night, especially after 9pm.
