10-year-old raped, killed in a maize plantation in Maseno

A 10-year-old girl, a standard three student at Eshisembe primary school, was raped and murdered in Maseno by suspected Henry Mukambi, 23, in a maize plantation where it is claimed he seduced her, raped before strangling her to death while on her way to a maize mill.

 Vihiga Deputy OCPD Peter Kimani confirmed the incident disclosing that the man is believed to be abnormal although investigations have been launched.

The body of the deceased has been taken to Rabuor Hospital Mortuary and the accused has been remanded at Luanda Police Station.

In Hamisi, 6 suspected gangsters were arraigned in Hamisi Law Courts in a robbery mission that was aborted in Kamulembe village of Muhudu sub location.

According to the Serem OCS Mutua Mendeim the six broke into a shop in Kamulembe and made away with shop commodities, but police who had been alerted, laid road blocks on all possible escape routes and later managed to arrest them.

“The six were in a white Toyota saloon car with registration number KAE 771B. On arresting them, the police managed to recover 2 police uniforms one of which was positively identified to belong to a police officer station at Langas Police station in Eldoret and a bunch of crude weapons,” said the OCS.

According to Mutua, the gang is believed to be behind a series of crimes in Eldoret, Kisumu and Kakamega. He has added that this is a major breakthrough in crime management in the region.

The six are remanded at Kodiaga Prisons pending investigations.
