Two people died in a tragic road accident Thursday morning which occurred at Kapsabet – Eldoret Highway near Kingwal Swamp.

The accident involved a Nissan caravan KAH 528H and a motorist which collided together when the motorist who was ferrying a passenger tried to overtake without considering traffic rules thus was knocked down and died on the spot while the other died while undergoing treatment at Kapsabet District Hospital.

Deputy Police Boss Kapsabet Ibrahim Kossy who confirmed the incident said that, “The motorist was trying to overtake at a point when he was caught by the matatu leading to the bad omen.”

It is the third time for the tragedy to occur as in April 2012, 4 people on board who were travelling by the motorbike died on the spot in a road accident which occurred in Nandi Hills town adding the tally to six.

He said that there have been rampant road accidents caused by motorists in Nandi County adding that majority of them are not qualified motorists and they don’t have driving licenses.
