Police in Mbale District in Uganda has arrested 17 year old Lillian Nake of Bugisu High school for allegedly stabbing her fellow student, Catherin Wegosasa to death and injuring Caroline Marole who had come to separate the two.

The Mbale District police commander Michael Ongica confirmed the incident saying that the quarrel started early in the day when Nake argued with Wegosasa who had accused her of gossiping of her over wearing some shoes that were allegedly left by a former student who left from school some time back.

Ongica said that Nake in her defense said that Wegosasa attacked her in her dome and she stabbed her in self defense adding that Marole was injured in the scuffle because she had also attempted to attack her in a move to rescue Wegosasa from getting stabbed. 

The incident occurred on Friday night at 10:00 pm at Bugisu High School a mixed day and boarding Secondary School.

The body of the late was taken to their home in Budadiri Sub County at Sironko District while Nake is being held at the Mbale District Central Police Station as the investigations continue.

The survivor Caroline Marole who is now nursing wounds at the Mbale General Clinic however, blamed the incident on the Administration saying that she had warned them of Nake’s intention but she was ignored.

The schools' Deputy Head Martine Nangai said he had received the case and solved it administratively bat did not think Nake would take it that personal.

Elsewhere, residents at Wanale Division in Mbale Municipality have vowed to fight in an attempt to get back the Suleiman Gidima road which has been blocked for more than 7 months now by the Kokonjeru Primary School Management.

The road has been an area of battle and accusation since the School Management blocked it claiming to have acquired the permission from the Municipal Council a claim the Officials have denied.  

Mean while Government Leaders in Mbale Municipality at Wanale Division have warned on those taking bribe in a move to hamper the residents and Municipal Council efforts to reopen the road.

The statements were made during a Community Meeting held at North Road Primary School where Rita Namwenje councilor for Nkoma ward, Francis Koko who is a councilor in the same ward and Julies Mudebo a councilor for North Central ward were accused of taking bribe.

The elected Chairman in charge of the Road Users Committee John Wamulugwa revealed that the resident’s said the mentioned people were allegedly using bribe to frustrate their efforts of fighting for the reopening of the alleged road.

Mbale District Mp Hon. Connie Galiwango condemned the act saying that search Councilors should not be voted for again adding that leaders should avoid double standards.

Mbale District Deputy Residence commissioner Emmy Mitala backed up the Citizens allegations saying that some Councilors were even arguing over the amounts of money they are given as bribe.

The Deputy Speaker for Northern Division Yasin Kawanguzi Wabomba condemned the act by the alleged Councilors saying that the Council should put up a probe on them and face a Citizens vote of no confidence if found guilty as alleged.
