A MIDDLE aged man and his spouse at Manyonyi village escaped lynching when an irate crowd directed their fury on them after they were found with an animal suspected to have been stolen. The incident that stunned and infuriated the locals in equal measure, the duo had tethered the animal on their bed rails and strictly fed it within their bedroom. The bull with estimated market value of Sh30,000 had its head tied with a piece of clothe denying it efforts to mow and attract attention. According to one of the locals, the bull was among the two suspected to have been stolen from the neighboring Matete District. The crowd caught up with the suspects and attacked them with all manner of weapons before police from Lumakanda Police Station arrived and whisked them away.
Elsewhere, another stock thief escaped death narrowly at Munyuki area when he was nabbed transporting an animal suspected to have been stolen. The suspect is believed to be among a gang of stock thieves that has been terrorizing residents in the area. Residents arrested the suspect and threatened to lynch him before police saved him. |
