A six-year old child was raped and strangled to death by two men in a village in Saboti division of Trans Nzoia West district Wednesday evening.

Area Chief Protus Wechuli confirmed that residents were shocked to find the body of the child in a nearby maize plantation where the perpetrators had accomplished their inhumane act and flew.

Speaking to West FM via his mobile phone from the scene of the incident, the chief said that the two men whom he said have been identified had entered the home in the absence of the parents and carried the child to a maize plantation where they took her through the ordeal before killing her.

“The incident happened at around 4pm when the body of the child was discovered in the maize field whereby she had been raped and killed,” the chief said.

The administrator said that the incident that was the first to happen in the area had shocked the residents who have vowed to search for the perpetrators to be brought to book as others swear to lynch them if found.

Wechuli said that the two criminals had taken advantage of the absence of the parents from the home to lure the child and hijack her into the maize and execute their heinous act.

However he said that all measures have been put in place to track the two criminals identified as Eric Wekesa Kamanda and the other just known by one name Jesse so that they can face the law.

At the same time, area councilor Geofrey Khisa has condemned the incident and swore to mobilize residents to stage a manhunt for the two criminals so that they can come face to face with the laws of this country which he said that sometimes delay in administering justice hence leading to the residents taking the law in their hands.
