A somber mood engulfed Tamlega Primary School of Malakisi Division, when a teacher collapsed and died Thursday evening while marking District Mock examination papers.

It is alleged that Edna Opili, 58, from Kolanya Village of Teso North District   was rushed to Malakisi Health Centre, but was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Addressing the press at the Hospital, the deceased’s husband Joseph Opili revealed his wife left home with no sign of ailment although she was suffering from high blood pressure.

Tamulega deputy head, Jane Otaba regretted the untimely death of their colleague whom she said was hardworking and intelligent adding that it was shocking since she had never complained of any sickness.

"She was in good health in the morning and we chatted jovially while taking mock papers, it sad that we have lost her,” explained Mrs Otaba.

Bungoma West DEO, Tom Oluoch said the death was untimely and shocking as it came while she was on duty, terming the deceased a diligent teacher. The deceased’s  body was  transferred  to Bungoma District Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem examination.
