Bamasaaba of Uganda launch this year’s circumcision season

As the Bagisu launch the start of this year’s cultural circumcision season on Friday that has been named 'Imbalu nakhululwe' due to the recently Land and Mudslides catastrophe in Bugisu land,  the Bamasaaba cultural leader Omukuuka Wilson Wamimbi has warned against forceful circumcision.

Omukuuka while speaking at the launch of Imbalu held at Bungokho Mutoto Sub County in Mbale District sounded a serious warning against those involved in forceful circumcision saying that the act has brought fear among the non Bagisu ling in the area leading to under development in Bugisu land.

He said that those involved in the act are not true Bamasaaba adding that they might be rebels or Al Shabab using the opportunity to tarnish the name of the kingdom but has however called upon the Government and other stakeholders to help in curbing the threats.

Nandala said that Bugisu and Uganda as whole is lacking behind in development due to lack of good crevice which calls for a change in the system.

He made the remarks while giving his speech at the launch of this year’s Bagisu cultural circumcision held at Bungokho Mutoto grounds in Mbale District.

At the same time youths in Mbale District on Friday apologized to the Omukuuka of Bamasaaba Wilson Wamimbi for allegedly tarnishing his image in their astragal for retaining the Maluku Luhobo hall as youth’s offices after it had been declared to be given out to Omukuuka.

The Mbale District Youth chairperson Peter Mweru while speaking at Luhobo hall said that the youths had been mislead by the former youth council in to believing that the building belonged to them but have now realized the truth of the mater.

Mweru said that the youths have left the building and are now ready to cooperate with the Cultural leader for better development.

The Bamasaba Cultural leader Omukuka Wilson Wamimbi hailed the youths for their wise decision and promised to consider them in his activities now that they have joined him on board.
