Over 200 pupils and parents of Grassland Primary School in Trans Nzoia West district took to the streets of Kitale town in a peaceful demonstration calling for good management from the school head.

Waving placards as they marched to the offices of the Trans Nzoia County Director of Education Mr. Joseph Wamocho on Tuesday, they demanded that the school head Mr. Vinsoh Wayod be transferred.

They claimed that the head teacher has misused school funds including Parents Teachers Association funds (PTA) and Free Primary Education (FPE) funds and taking and even owning the school property.

''The principal has taken the school water tank and owned it at his home yet it was supposed to assist the pupils in school,'' John Ombura the school chairman said.

The chairman who presented the grievances on behalf of the teachers and pupils said that the school has been performing poorly since the head teacher came to the school citing a situation where the school came second last in Trans Nzoia West district mock examination with a mean score of 224.

He further said that the head teacher has been transferring qualified and competent teachers to other schools as he hires unqualified ones who contribute to the downfall of the school adding that during his time of administration, the school has also witnessed massive loss of textbooks.

However the County Education officer promised that his office will look into their grievances and come up with a solution before the end of the week and requested the parents who had locked the head teacher's office to open the office and let the schools activities to run as usual.
