A family is living in astonishment after experiencing a rather unusual mutual relationship between their domesticated cat and dog that has blossomed overtime.

Mr Wilson Wekesa the owner of the two, who hails from Kamtiong village on the boundary of Kimilili and Mt. Elgon District, said after acquiring the two from different places they instantly fell for each other and started spending most of their time together.

He disclosed that he was disturbed after discovering that the cat had developed a habit of suckling the dog despite its older age.

“In my 72 years of age I have never witnessed such a close relationship between a cat and a dog but this to me is just absurd, when a cat suckles a dog,” added Wekesa.

He pointed out that the dog had delivered in the beginning of the month of July but unfortunately all the puppies died an incident that was ironically capitalized by the cat which immediately began the suckling habit.

“It used to suckle often in the beginning but currently the habit has been reduced to early in the morning and late in the evening something that has continuously developed mixed reactions from my neighbors with some saying it’s a call for unity among members of the political divide in the country ahead of the general election,” said Wekesa.

He further disclosed that after suckling the cat usually goes to hunt for mice and lizards and comes back later with two or three of them and takes one to the dog-mother named Turkey to eat (which it usually doesn’t) as a sign of appreciation and to further bond their relationship.

Mr. Wekesa called upon the government through the Kenya Wildlife Service to show up and conduct a thorough research on the two animals just to be sure that he isn’t taming unknown species of animals in his home.
