35 year old man found stealing maize lynched at Lumino Estate of Mumias

A 35 year old man was Tuesday morning stoned to death by angry residents of Lumino Estate, Mumias Town after being caught stealing green maize in a farm.

Ali Kuloba as he was later identified from Lureko village of Lureko sub-location within Mumias District was was killed in the 3:30am incident after allegedly being found plucking the maize from Abdalla Kweyu's farm who on seeing him raised an alarm that woke the residents of the estate who later stoned him.

Members of the community policing team raised the police officers at the Mumias Police Station who arrived on time, but their efforts to save him bore no fruits.

The area Police Boss George Seda who was at the scene said residents should not take law in their hands by lynching suspects but instead hand them to the relevant authority for justice to be done.

He also urged the residents not to indulge in criminal activities saying police have intensified patrols and whoever is found guilty will land be arraigned in court.

The body of the deceased was ferried to St. Marys Hospital mortuary for postmortem.
