An administration Police attached to Lutaso Camp of Kimilili District in Bungoma County is recuperating at Kimilili District Hospital after he was attacked by unknown people causing him deep injuries on this head.

Speaking to West Fm at his hospital bed, the officer identified as Corporal Musa Kiptoo Mung’oi said that the thugs broke in at about 1am on Saturday night in the house where he was sleeping and courageously fought back to his defense thus ended up being hurt by the panga.

He disclosed that the alleged attackers who broke the door and entered his house were coordinating with others more who had been left outside the camp.

“I fought with them for close to thirty minutes then they surrendered and left leaving me with bruises on my hand and the cuts on my head, however they did not steal anything from the house which makes me wonder their intentions,” said Corporal Kiptoo

He further pointed out that there are three officers at the camp but one had left that night to his rural home while the other was locked in his room from outside hence could not get outside amid the scuffle of the night.

“Since I was posted here I have had a good relationship with the Lutaso village people who make me wonder the intention of the attackers on that fateful night” added Corporal Kiptoo.

The assistant District Criminal Investigation Officer in charge of Bungoma East and Kimilili Districts Peter Momanyi said already they have launched investigation regarding the incident.

He ruled out any possibility of any malicious acts that may be linked to the officer saying he is known to have a very straight forward record and only their investigations will reveal the attackers intentions.

“I thank the officer for his brave antics and for preventing them from accessing his gun, I wish him quick recovery and promise residents that we will intensify security around the area” said Momanyi

He pointed out that more police officers have already been deployed to the camp to ensure incidences of insecurity are curbed to the maximum.
