Matete, Kakamega; Grief and tension enveloped Mukhonje village in Matete District of Kakamega County after the body of a middle aged woman was found dumped in a sugarcane plantation, with preliminary investigations indicating she must have been killed by the husband.
Confirming the incident, Lwandeti Location Chief, Mr. Francis Lumbasi, said the body was stumbled upon by an unidentified passerby who incidentally had gone to near the scene to answer a call of nature.
According to the local administrator, prior to her death the deceased, identified as Mrs. Pamela Khaki, aged 31 years, was last seen in company of her husband, identified only as Elijah last Thursday evening.
“The deceased and her husband have been into a very rocky relationship characterized by constant quarrels and fights,” revealed the chief who added the husband and his second wife had since gone into hiding, thus signaling strong possibilities of his involvement in Khaki’s death.
Lumbasi told West FM that police officers from Matete station had launched a manhunt
for the husband whom they strongly believe is the key to unraveling the death, which up to now remains mysterious.
The body was transferred to Webuye Sub County Hospital in Bungoma County for postmortem.
