Former Webuye MP Musikari Kombo has appealed to all Jubilee party candidates in Bungoma County to work together so that they can achieve the target of scooping most seats from the ward level to the County level. While addressing the press at his home after meeting Jubilee leaders from Bungoma County, he said Jubilee has an advantage against NASA, given that they have only one candidate per seat in the County. “As things are now, we have the better chance because we only have one MCA Candidate in each of the forty-five wards. We have one MP candidate, one woman representative candidate, one Senatorial candidate and of course, one Gubernatorial candidate while our competitors have three parties within their coalition,” said Musikari Kombo.
He added that given the need for NASA parties to fully establish trust within the parties, they can capitalize on their weaknesses, and get more seats than what they had in the last elections. Kombo urged Bungoma residents to vote for President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto because they’ve established a lot of development in the region, ranging from establishing road networks, and reviving Rai Paper.
“Voting for Uhuru Kenyatta is voting for development and peace. We are going to campaign for his re-election from door to door,” he said. He faulted Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula for failing to address and articulate important issues in the County. He also took the opportunity to pass a message of condolence to the late Joseph Nkaissery’s family, terming his death as a setback for the people of Kenya, as far as security is concerned.
Bungoma Governor Ken Lusaka who was also present criticized Senator Wetangula for maligning him instead of working in tandem with him. “I’ve never received backing from my Senator when it comes to development. He just criticizes me and this has dragged back the County’s development agenda,” he said, adding that residents should elect a Senator who can work together with the Governor so that more can be done in terms of infrastructural development, education and health development in the County. He said Jubilee government has done a lot in Bungoma County and it’s all evident. He urged County residents to vote for Jubilee so that more projects can be accomplished.
