The National Authority for the Campaign against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) is in Nandi for a three-day road show to sensitize residents on the dangers of drug abuse. Speaking to West Media Limited at Kapsabet town during the flagging off of the NACADA caravan, the Director for the Ministry of Youths and Gender Affairs in Nandi Mr Alex Otieno Oyuga said the aim of the three-day road show is to provide sensitization to the residents on the effects of drug abuse, and residents should stop the vice.
Oyuga cited that a research conducted recently by NACADA revealed that Nandi is among the Counties which are majorly affected by drug abuse, thus there is a need to tackle the vice in the County.
The Director revealed that NACADA is also advocating for drug rehabilitation in the County, and he urged residents to ensure those who are addicted to drugs are taken to the rehabilitation facilities. The caravan which started in Kapsabet town will pass through areas of Kamobo, Kapsasur, Denja, Kapkangani, Chepkumia, Kobujoi, Kaptumo, Mugundoi, Nandi hills. The roadshow will reach its conclusion on Friday, in Kapsabet town.
