The Nandi Finance CEC Alfred Lagat has presented a Kshs 8.046 billion budget estimate for the financial year 2018/2019 to the Nandi County Assembly. While presenting the budget, Lagat said the projected estimate for the 2018/2019 financial year is Kshs 8,046,964,890 out of which Kshs 5,369,400,000 is from the national government transfers as part of the shareable revenue.
A total of Kshs 459,293,246 is projected to be collected from the local revenue sources which translates to 66.7% of the projected total revenue from the national government transfers and 5.7% from local revenues, 17.8% as anticipated balances from 2017/2018 financial year amounting to Kshs 1,433,000 estimated as the value of the ongoing projects to be carried forward as works in progress.
The recurrent expenditure for 2018/2019 financial year budget estimates amounts to Kshs 5.1 billion translating to 63.4% of the total revenue.
The dockets which received a large share of budgetary allocations this financial year includes, the health sector with 24.1%, transport and infrastructure 11.5%, agriculture and cooperative development 7.9%, education and vocational training 7.7% and youth docket with 6%.
The County Assembly received Kshs 163.5 million to facilitate the completion of the ongoing construction of the Assembly complex.
On the other hand, some of the MCAs led by Ollessos ward MCA Hon Emmanuel Mengech and Kapsabet ward MCA Fredrick Kipkemboi are against the budget, saying due procedure wasn’t followed. They said a budget cannot be presented before working on the County Integrated Development Plan.
