Nandi County government in conjunction with the national government has organized a registration exercise of birth certificates to be conducted in each ward in the County. This is according to Deputy Governor of Nandi Dr. Yulita Cheruiyot who cited that the two governments unanimously agreed that registration services should be availed closer to the public for speedy processes.
Addressing the public at Kabiyet ward in Mosop constituency during a public participation forum on the County Integrated Development Plan, Cheruiyot said the decision was arrived at with the aim of ensuring speedy process of acquiring birth certificates by the parents.
She cited that the exercise will commence today, on Friday, at Ndalat ward in Mosop constituency and the schedule for other wards in Nandi will be announced later.
This comes as a relief for parents in Nandi County who will not travel to Kapsabet again seeking for registration services but will get the services at the grass root level, and from another perspective, it will ease congestion.
The parents have until the 31st of March to avail the documents after the Ministry of Education extended the deadline for the acquisition of personal ID numbers for all the primary and secondary students from 20th February to 31st March 2018.
This was done after the Ministry had noticed that the process had been slowed down by the fact that most learners were yet to acquire the birth certificates.
