Nandi County First Lady Mrs Sheila Sang has launched a Menstrual Hygiene Programme which will be conducted annually in the County to teach school girls the importance of good menstrual hygiene management.
Mrs. Sang cited that the Programme will help to break the silence and build an awareness about the fundamental role that good menstrual hygiene management plays. She said many girls miss school because they lack the necessary menstrual hygiene supplies and that handing out free sanitary pads will go a long way to tackling this issue.
Sang was accompanied by Nandi Health CEC Ruth Koech and Nandi Deputy Governor Dr. Yulita Cheruiyot when they visited Kugeroniat Primary School in Mosop constituency, urged parents to sensitize girls on the importance of menstrual hygiene so as to break the taboo surrounding menstruation, “Raise awareness of the importance of good menstrual hygiene management to your girls,” she said.
