The incumbent Nandi Senator Stephen Sang has won the Jubilee Gubernatorial ticket after gannering a total of 85,971 votes against his close opponent and former Industrialization Minister Henry Kosgey, who scored 41,084 votes in the just concluded Jubilee primaries.
The race between the two competitors was very tough, but Sang maintained an early lead to the end, scooping enough votes in all the six constituencies of Nandi.
Nandi Governor Dr Cleophas Lagat clinched the fourth position with 26,119 votes, and he was well beaten by Felix Kosgey who scored 26,641 votes and came third.
All the gubernatorial aspirants who lost conceded defeat, saying they will support Sang. While giving his speech, Nandi Governer Cleophas Lagat thanked the residents for giving him a chance to serve as the first Governor of Nandi.
Samson Cherargey took the senatorial post with 67,432 votes against his opponent Boniface Tenai who scored a total of 24,216 votes and conceded the defeat.
Dr Tecla Songok Tum took the seat of women representative with 118,187 against her opponent, the current women representative Zipporah Kering who gannered 28,480 votes.
Members of parliament from Tindiret Julius Melly, Nandi Hills Alfred Keter, Aldai Cornelius Serem and Emgwen’s Alex Kosgey defended their seats except Chesumei and Mosop constituencies which were taken by newly elected members that is Wilson Kogo and Vincent Tuwei after trouncing Elijah Lagat and Stephen Kirwa Bitok respectively.
Five MCAs in the County from Koyo/Ndurio, Chemelil/Chemase, Tindiret, Chepkumia and Kapsabet wards retained their seats as the rest were sent home.
