NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga has said corruption under the Jubilee government has crippled the state of affairs in the country. Addressing Kakamega residents at Bukhungu Stadium during NASA campaigns, Raila Odinga said the money set aside for projects has been siphoned by Jubilee leaders, “Out of every shilling spent by Jubilee on development, another shilling is stolen by Jubilee officials,” he said. He said Jubilee leaders have accrued debts after misusing development funds.
“They’ll come and tell you for example that they’ve set apart Kshs 5 billion to develop the Kakamega-Webuye road, yet only 2.5 million will be used,” he remarked. He added that the corruption under the Jubilee government will destroy Kenya’s economy. The ODM leader cited a ranking by international watchdog Transparency International, which ranked Kenya among the most corrupt countries, “Kenya plays in the premier league of corruption, with countries like Bangladesh, Cameroon, DR Congo,” he said. “In Tanzania, President Magufuli has swept away corruption and it’s among the countries with the fastest growing economies. We shall take Magufuli’s broom and sweep away corruption,” said Raila.
He cited the plague of youth unemployment as a main challenge in the country, “Many youths have no jobs, they’ve finished their primary, high school and University studies and they have no jobs,” he said, adding that NASA will set up an industrial park in Kakamega if they take over power after the August polls.
