Vihiga will be a bee hive of activities as beauty queens from 44 Counties arrive in the County to kick off the four days of National Miss Tourism Cultural and Beauty extravaganza.
According to the programme released by County Executive Committee member in charge of Trade and Tourism Ebby Omido the most beautiful girls from the counties will be treated to a heroic welcome to the county on their arrival.
“We are set to receive them and they will be escorted by Isukuti dancers from Kiboswa, the Kisumu Vihiga boarder to a local hotel where they will be for a boot camp,” said Ms Omido.
She added that residents of the county are ready to receive the more than 4, 000 visitors who will be in the county for the big event.
“We are the first County from Western region to host the event after Mombasa and Nairobi and we have a lot to offer for our visitors,” she added.
Miss Ebby Omido added that Vihiga is a small County and delegates can be able to visit all the tourist attraction sites and enjoy themselves during their stay in the county.
She observed that residents stand to benefit immensely from hosting the event, especially when potential tourists see some of the attractions that county has
The event with the theme, “Exploring our cultural heritage for social and economic development of our people” will run from June 15 to 18 and will be held at Vihiga Municipal Grounds and Kidundu stadium.
She explained that on June 15th counties will pick their girls from the academy and present them to the Vihiga governor Moses Akaranga at the Municipal grounds in a function dubbed ‘grand entry’.
“This will be a red carpet event where creativity is encouraged by the counties, she said “It will be very colorful,” she added.
On June 15th to 18th the tour by the beauty queens to neighboring counties to explore tourist’s attraction sites will be flagged off by Akaranga.
They will visit Vihiga, Homa Bay, Siaya, Busia, Bungoma, Trans Nzoia, Kakamega and finally Vihiga County, Omido explained.
She added that the next event would be governors’ dinner that will be held of June 18th at Mudasa Academy. This will be a highlight for the grand Finale.
Omido pointed out that the climax of the extravaganza will be the Gala night that will be held at Kidundu grounds where the country’s most beautiful girl will be crowned as Miss Tourism Kenya 2016.
She revealed that the event will be live on the television.
She added that preparations for the event are in top gear and assured visitors of a good stay in the county.
