Former United States 44th President, Barack Obama’s visit to Kenya from 15th to 16th July 2018 is his 4th to the nation of his late father.
President Barack Obama’s greatest gift to Kenya, to the generations growing up in Kenya and now in their youth is one of offering inspiration that no matter what odds are stacked against one at birth, in their formative years, no condition is permanent and you can rise to the pinnacle of your world, the way he rose from the humblest of backgrounds to the presidency of the United States of America, the only superpower in the world.
But make no mistake, the rise of President Barack Obama was a factor of his education, his mastery of education, his mastery of oratory, his vast knowledge acquired through learning that enabled him to persuade the over 300 million Americans to trust him to be their president for eight years.
It is the inspiration and example of President Barack Obama that Kenya requires to rise above its elected leaders and public servants’ perennial short-sightedness that has bogged the country for 56 years since independence in parochialism, tribalism, corruption, cronyism, mediocrity, nepotism, thievery of public resources.
Kenya’s youth must be the ones to bring Kenya to the greatness that beckons it with such great inspirational figures as President Barack Obama who deeply respect the country and its people as part of his ancestry.
Kenya can only give gratitude, thank you to President Barack Obama for yet again visiting his father’s land, marketing the county to the rest of the world and being a role model of the generations in the making who are the envy of all other nations who will die to have such a statesman calling their country his fatherland.
The challenge is ours to blow. Ask not for material things from President Barack Obama. Utilize, harness the inspiration he offers to a generation that can make Kenya great, the land of opportunity, prosperity, peace, freedom, justice for all its people, the shining star of Africa.
President Barack Obama is the greatest inspiration and shining example to Africa, the black race now living after the departure of President Nelson Mandela. Africa, the black race must harness this inspiration for its transformation. The time is now.
