NASA leader James Orengo has urged IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati to come out and stand for transparency and credibility instead of pushing ahead with fresh polls set for Thursday. Addressing the press in Nairobi, Orengo said the IEBC chairman shouldn’t be intimidated to stand for what is right, “We hear that he didn’t have a good meeting with President Uhuru Kenyatta yesterday, but he must be a person with the right stand and vision. He must come out before the court, because we have a case tomorrow in court, and tell the nation that the polls aren’t in line with the constitution,” he said.
He further reiterated that Chebukati must be brave like former IEBC commissioner Roselyn Akombe, who quit her position at the electoral body. Among the grievances she had, was that IEBC wouldn’t be able to conduct free and fair elections. Orengo said that IEBC should conduct free and fair polls, with every Kenyan able to take part and elect a leader they want.
Orengo emphasized that Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka, Moses Wetangula, and Musalia Mudavadi can lead Kenyans towards prosperity, citing that not every President is a leader, “Nelson Mandela was in prison but he managed to lead South Africa and transform it into a democratic nation,” said Orengo.
