President Uhuru Kenyatta has differed with the Supreme Court ruling, nullifying his election win. “I personally disagree with the ruling that has been made today, but I respect it,” he said, “I disagree with it because as I’ve said millions of Kenyans queued and made their choice, and six people have decided to go against the will of the people.
He reiterated that six people can’t affect the will of millions of Kenyans, “I personally disagree with the ruling that has been made today but I respect it, few people cant change the will of millions of people, only Kenyans will decide.”
President Kenyatta said they are ready to go back to the people, “We are ready to go back again to the people with the same agenda that we delivered to the people,” he said. He further urged Kenyans to maintain peace, saying the decision of the court isn’t their burden to bear, “Fellow Kenyans I call for peace because the fault is not yours. Your neighbour remains your neighbour and that is the person that is most important to you. We are not at war with our brothers and sisters in the opposition because we are all Kenyans.”
The President urged the opposition to sell their agenda to Kenyans and shun a message of tribalism and division, “Kenyans will decide, that is the nature of democracy.”
