President Uhuru Kenyatta has outlined tough measures which have been set by the government to ensure those who take part in exam cheating face the consequences. Speaking in Kapsabet, President Kenyatta said students who’ll be found cheating in exams will be sent to approved schools, while the parents of candidates caught with stolen tests during exams will be sent to jail. He said parents are the ones who are facilitating their children to steal exams, “Where does a child get Kshs 100,000 to pay for a stolen exam? It must be their parents who are paying,” he said.
He said that teachers who get involved in exam malpractices will be thrown in jail. He said children should be allowed to develop according to the talents they possess and engaging in exam cheating will disrupt their future, adding that the government is right to beef up security in examination centres. President Kenyatta further said the government will set up strict measures to ensure the farmers in the region benefit from their toil and protect them from those who want to take funds meant for them. “We want to solve perennial problems that have faced maize farmers. We will no longer allow brokers to benefit instead of the farmers who sweat everyday,” he said. The President urged Kenyans to be united and ensure we are self-reliant, “If you depend on others, sometimes they will give you conditions that are not acceptable,” he said.
